Gil Johnson
“The Gil Johnson Recreation Building at Mira Mesa Community Park”
In the early years of Mira Mesa there were no parks in the Mira Mesa Community. The City Councilman at the time, Gil Johnson, realized this and worked hard at obtaining the acres and the funding for Mira Mesa Community Park. He also got the funding for a new Recreation Center. For his efforts on behave of the Community of Mira Mesa the City of San Diego named the new Recreation Center in his honor.
The above history provided by Bruce Brown.
