Mira Mesa’s very own tennis instructor, Stan Jefferson, recently received awards from the Southern California Tennis Assoc. (SCTA) and the USPTA/San Diego Community Service award for 2017.

Coach Stan Jefferson, USPTA Certified Pro, is an Elite teaching professional (1989-Current). Stan has been serving the Mira Mesa community at Hourglass Field Community Park for over 20 years. His tennis pathway began when he was 14 years old, a late bloomer by today’s standards. Born in Dallas, Texas, a state steeped in the Football culture, he gave tennis a try and grew to love the game. He quickly excelled in tennis and continued developing his skills well after high school, attending Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

There Stan captained the tennis team for three years. That leadership role helped prepare him for what ultimately became his lifetime career and expression. Over the years he’s worked with many tennis community leaders and teaching professionals on developing grass roots tennis programs and high performance tennis training techniques.

Stan is currently teaching a pathway tennis program designed to guide kids from the beginning levels of tennis to world class athletes. He’s had the good fortune to work with students of all ages with the development and management of their tennis talent and is always looking forward to his next crop of Mira Mesa’s tennis hopefuls.
