Unfinished Business
As the Holidays approach, I would like to remind everyone that the MMRAG still has a lot of unfinished business. As we move forward into 2019, it is extremely important that we keep the pressure on the City to complete the following projects:
1. Start the process of designing and constructing phase 2 of the MMCP
early in 2019. This includes the new Swimming pool, and improving
the old Gil Johnson Recreation Center or perhaps building a new
center.
Contact: Kevin Oliver, Project Manager
1-619-533-5139 and/or Koliver@sandiego.gov
2. Push the City hard to keep on its schedule and construct
and complete Salk Neighborhood Park – including the
new shade structure at Maddox Tot Lot that we contributed
$100K toward. The project should start in the spring.
Contact: Chris Cate, City Council Representative
1-619-236-6616 and/or Chriscate@sandiego.gov
3. Begin construction of the Wangenheim Joint-Use sport
fields this coming Fall.
Contact: Kevin Oliver, Project Manager
Chris Cate, City Council Representative
4. Continue to lobby to have our 3rd Community Park built
in the Carroll Canyon 3Roots Development (including the
Recreation Center) completed – ASAP.
Contact: Chris Cate, City Council Representative
Only with continued pressure from the community will the City stay on course – Mira Mesa has waited far to long for these important projects to be pushed out any further.
Best wishes for a very Happy and safe Holiday season.
